ET&C Points of Reference

Part of a regular series intended to address an emerging or controversial topic of interest to the scientific community at large, ET&C Points of Reference provide authors with a venue to express their opinions of a scientific nature in 1,000 words or less. These brief articles may stimulate additional research and greater discussion. These are not Letters to the Editor that comment on an ET&C article. Submissions do not include an abstract, are limited to one single-frame table or figure, with no more than five references. Points of Reference articles are generally not peer reviewed but require editor approval.

IEAM Debates, Dilemmas, and Discoveries

Debates, Dilemmas, and Discoveries (3Ds, formerly Learned Discourses) offer rapid publication on compelling and timely issues in a non-peer-reviewed forum. 3Ds report on progress in field and laboratory research, explore new or emerging research questions, provide opinions and perspectives on a range of environmental topics, debate issues, spotlight management policies and practices, and/or share challenges and insights on biology, chemistry, ecology, engineering and sustainability. 3D manuscripts should be written for a broad audience of policy makers, scientists, and business professionals and are limited to 1000 words and not more than 1 table or figure and 6 references. Manuscripts are subject to review and approval by the 3D Editors.

Submit inquiries and 3Ds directly to ieam3d@setac.org.

After the Meeting

We are pleased to offer you the opportunity to publish with SETAC!

Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with the style and format requirements specified with the ET&C and IEAM author guidelines.

Supplemental data files to be posted in conjunction with the article also must be included as part of the submission package. Potential conflict of interest must be reported at the time the original manuscript is submitted. Research funding and other support from outside the authors’ stated affiliation must be disclosed in an acknowledgment section, included immediately before the reference section, in the manuscript. Submitted manuscripts will be reviewed initially by the editor-in‐chief and editorial staff to verify that the work is within the scope of the journal and is otherwise appropriate for peer review. All original manuscripts are subject to review by at least two outside referees.
